Phoenix is a French band that caught my attention about two years ago when I first listened to their song “Too Young.” After I fell in love with that song, I steadily kept up with this band. And now recently in the past couple of months they released a new album. This is their song “1901″.

The number of Chinese internet users ( in China) has outnumbered the total United States population. Dang.
I do not know why, but I used to think that China was just enjoying their fifteen minutes of fame. I think this type of thinking was during the time of my extreme conservative American thinking during the election. But after much newswatching, political book reading ( yes, Angeline I know what you are thinking. aha), and newspaper reading I have finally made an opinion about China and yes, I firmly believe that China is on its way to the top. Actually, scratch that. I believe that China and India are rising to be dominant world powers. But I also think that the continent of Asia is rising on a whole and that Asian influence on the world will greatly increase over this century.
With China and India leading the pack, Asia is on the rise. I repeat, Asia is on the rise.
Where does that leave the United States?
That is another story for another time.
On a closing note, I would like to recommend a book called The Post American World by Fareed Zakaria. When I went to Singapore about a month ago, I had the option to shop, shop, and shop. But instead, I spent about five hours at the Kinokuniya book store in Takashimaya in the politics section. I ended up buying four political books. One positive effect about moving to Asia is that I am now able to form my own opinions, get more in-the-know about politics and world news, and that I grew up more. This is a good sign.

This is what the world sees of America. And even though I should be ashamed, this is just too damn funny.

You know what?
I think I am liking the whole “wearing a uniform to school” thing. It is so much easier to get ready in the morning and plus, I don’t spend half of an hour deciding what to wear. Now I take only about 25 minutes to get ready, which is an all time record by the way. And even though I wear a uniform, I am allowed some flexibility with it. Meaning, the school enforces a uniform but I am allowed flexibility. Like for example, I do not have to wear the tie if I do not want to and I don’t have to keep my shirt tucked in. Almost all the girls’ shorts are mended to be shorter ( I know I did it) and my sleeves are rolled up. Bracelets, necklaces, and anklets are allowed.
Though I wear a uniform, I can still express my individuality.
Oh, and of course, there is casual Friday. Need I elaborate more on this? I think not.
Uniforms are just uniformly convenient. And if you wear it the right way, you make it look good.
What a last couple of weeks it has been! So much was going on.
I had to fly out to Singapore for two days because my visitors visa expired. My student visa is not yet done, so I had to get out of the country and come back in with another visitors visa that will last for thirty days. Lets hope that my student one will be done by then. If not, that is fine also. I happen to love Singapore very much.
A day after I came back from Singapore, my cousin from China arrived. My other cousin just arrived a couple of days earlier from America and another one is here in Jakarta working on an internship. The next day the cousins, my brother, and I flew out to Bali for a three day mini vacation.
I had a wonderful time at Bali because I was surrounded by family that I love very much. There was a lot of laughter, fun, foods, and merriment to go around. Hmm..what did we do there? We shopped of course, ate great foods, went to the beach, walked around, saved sea turtles, and just had a good time together. I did not get tan however. I guess that is a good thing. I have turned anti-tanning. You see, I would not mind tanning if it did not make me look like a different race after I get many shades darker. It is like I turn from normal to Indian looking. I’ll pass, thanks. Sunscreen was my best friend for those three days…oh, and the shade also. What else happened…Oh, aha my cousin and I had to get rescued by the life guards. No joke. Why did we have to get rescued? I have no idea. That is a good question. So my cousin and I were in the ocean just minding our own business and playing around. All of a sudden, people on surfboards started to surround us. At first I thought they were like a surfing gang or something and I was about to scold them off. Then I thought they were trying to sell us their surfboards. Next thing I know, I was being pulled on to the surfboard and being paddled back to shore! Dang. Apparently, the currents were getting strong or something…whatever, I did not even notice. Anyway, that was a laughing experience. On our way back to Jakarta, we were delayed four hours at the airport in Bali. Tired, sleepy, sore, and covered with sand, I experienced the longest four hours of my life.
That next week I had a busy schedule as usual. One of my cousins flew back to America. I had to do last minute prearations for school, like getting my uniform fitted, making more payments, and finalising my timetable. School starts Monday and I am a nervous wreck. First day in a different school, in a totally different country, and coming in as a new student has made me break out a little. &#@*(#&_*!!
But in the midst of traveling here and there, and running errands, I made time for Perfume, of course. As busy as I have been, Perfume news has been just as busy. Previews for their new tracks on their new album surfaced; pictures, events, and interviews popped up; then full tracks were out; and today is the release of their new album, ⊿ ( aka Triangle.) I won’t post my review of the album on this post because I can go on and on and on. But I must say that I thoroughly enjoy this album and that I cannot wait to get my copy, which was shipped to the states instead of Indonesia. Lets just say that Indonesian airmail is not reliable. aha I have to wait TWO WEEKS until I get my copy because that is when my mom is going to fly back to Indo. I literally cried when I found that out. Literally. ) :

Nocchi, Kashiyuka, A-chan
P.S. Do you get the title of this blog? Ahaha
